Fat Pad Augmentation

If you feel pain every time you take a step, the revolutionary treatment of fat pad restoration in the foot may be for you!  This cutting-edge solution is a minimally invasive procedure designed to restore lost fat cushioning in the bottom of the foot.

By implanting fat tissue in the affected areas, patients experience relief from discomfort associated with metatarsalgia, plantar fasciitis, or other foot-related ailments caused by thinning fat pads.

This innovative approach can address a myriad of foot ailments by improving foot comfort, enhancing shock absorption, and supporting overall foot health, and helping individuals regain mobility.

How Does It Work?

Due to aging, injury, or constant pressure, the fat tissue beneath the foot can become worn down or damaged. Fat pad atrophy occurs when this protective layer deteriorates, reducing its thickness and shock absorbing capabilities, which is necessary to protect the bones and nerves in your foot.

In order to combat this issue, our clinic uses human adipose tissue, which is commonly known as fat. This cryopreserved allograft is processed in a sterile environment to retain the natural properties and structure of the fat. Our physicians will then implant it in the affected area on the bottom of your foot to help start the restorative process.

This adipose tissue transplant is used to replace or augment damaged fat tissue in the foot, encouraging the body’s natural ability to regenerate fat in the affected area. It is designed to restore cushioning, protecting the bones and alleviating pain. Over time, the implanted tissue integrates with the surrounding tissue and is gradually replaced by the patient’s own natural fat.

Benefits of Fat Pad Augmentation

  • Non-surgical solution:

    • Less risks than surgery with little to no recovery time.

  • Stimulates Natural Tissue Restoration:

    • Over time, the transplant integrates with the surrounding area and is gradually replaced by the patient's own tissue.

  • Biocompatible Fat Pad Augmentation:

    • Composed of natural materials that integrate seamlessly with the body's natural tissues.

    • Minimizes the risk of adverse reactions or rejection.

  • Fast and Long-lasting relief:

    • When the transplant is received, it allows for immediate structural support and protection. The area may need to be protected while the fat settles into place.

    • Once patients resume normal activities, many report a significant reduction or complete disappearance of pain, allowing them to return to their everyday lives.
